You can get Eurolines buses from London to Portalegre 3 times a week, at the moment there are 3 changes but this seems to vary. Current journey time 34 hours, current single price £85. This currently arrives in Portalegre at 5pm which fit nicely with the Rede-Express bus to Sto. Antonio das Areias at 6.50pm.
You can also get to Portugal by Train from London. This website Seat 61 has a great page which explains the journeys and prices, although to get to us, a quicker route would be to follow that website to get to Madrid, then get a train from Madrid to Valencia de Alcantara (currently only one train per day leaves Madrid at 8.07am, arriving 1.48pm with a change at Caceres. Valencia de Alcantara is just over the border from us in Spain. We might be able to collect you from the train station, please get in touch. (Don’t confuse Valencia de Alcantara with Valencia, a large Spanish city a long way away.)
There are various international airports, but Lisbon is the closest and easiest as there is a direct bus from Lisbon to Santo Antonio das Areias once per day at 3pm. From the other airports you would need to first get a bus to Portalegre and from there to Santo Antonio das Areias. Intercity bus routes in Portugal can be found here at Rede Expressos.
